The skinny scarf

I’ve been crushing on the skinny scarf ever since the Christian Dior Spring 2013 collection and recently they’ve been adorning the necks of those ladies in the know.  The skinny scarf adds an elegant element to any outfit and it will update a simple T-shirt in an instant.  Try wearing it tied to the side of the neck and allow it to trail down your back for maximum impact.

I loved the giant clutches from Sally La Pointe’s Fall 2015 Ready-To-Wear collection.  They are a welcome departure from the mini  clutches and handbags we’ve been seeing everywhere.  What are you waiting for?  Upsize your clutch now.

Style inspiration – How I’m wearing it

25 January, 2015

Hello my lovely readers, I hope 2015 is off to a brilliant and stylish start for you all.  At this time of year we all tend to reflect on what’s important to us in our lives and how we might find more meaning and feel more connected with others and we get busy putting these ideas into practice, perhaps inspired by the collective energy of others starting to make changes in their lives.

Seeing fellow bloggers reflect honesty on their own journeys in the fashion blogosphere inspired me to reconnect with my original vision for the style tracker.  I’m not sure my message has come across in all of my posts however I created this blog to celebrate diversity among women, and to encourage and inspire women of all shapes and sizes (myself included) to celebrate themselves as they are, in their journey to cultivating their own unique style.

So in keeping with my purpose for The style tracker, and as a response to requests from some of my lovely readers asking how I style things in real life I’ll be including a regular post on “how I’m wearing it”.  As I alluded to in my bio I’m uncomfortable with photos of myself, I’ve struggled with my body image ever since age 11, when I started dieting, so it’s taken me a few weeks to muster the courage to put photos of myself on this site.

The first glimpse into my style is inspired by the artful styling of this scarf from MM6 Maison Martin Margiela Spring 2015 Collection pictured below.

Below is my everyday take on the look with jeans and a tee, albeit a windswept version, courtesy of Melbourne’s unpredictable weather.  Thanks to the lovely Kate Leddick who has taken these pics.

I would recommend styling your scarf like this when you are not contending with gale force winds.  I’d love to hear how you would wear it.

Granted, the Spring Summer 15 shows are well and truly past, but I loved the looks on the street and thought it was worthy of a belated post.

It was refreshing to see a mix of pared-down looks but I’m still excited by the colour and print combinations.  Which lady vibe are you channeling?

The gladiator sandal is back and I’m in love!  I’ve always been a bit partial to this look, hence  having several pairs of gladiator style sandals.  I’ve never been brave enough to wear them high up the leg like this but I’m willing to give it a try.  Love the slight wedge as shown at Chloe Spring Summer 2015 recently.  Whether you just give them a spin this season or wear them forever, you’re sure to make a statement.  I predict that we’ll be seeing a lot of this style on the high street soon.  Go forth, be bold and have fun in these babies.
